Abu Garcia reel test and a record perch

by on Oct.01, 2011, under Float rod, Spinning, Tumsupe river

400g perch (28cm)Received my Abu Garcia Orras spinning reel, ordered on eBay yesterday, and was full of expectations to test it real fishing conditions. At noon i was at the river, wasted some time to catch a live bait, and catched a small perch on macaroni, which was real fun, because perch just doesn’t eat macaroni. :)

At some time it became not interesting to float. Took my spinning rod with my new spinning reel and moved directly to the pond to watch pikes, hunting fish in the grass i didn’t have a chance to cast in. Next time will try fishing on rings, because the only other fisherman on the pond today (except me) managed to catch a 2.5kg pike on ring.

1 pike (released), 1 perch (400g, 28cm)

Roach on macaroni

by on Sep.25, 2011, under Float rod, Spinning, Tumsupe river

Roach tend to eat macaroni in AutumnAlways wanted to try angling on macaroni, heard a lot about it, but never tried. Now the time had finally come.

I was surprised, because fish really liked it more than an earthworm or a corn. Funny thing is that exactly on September 25 last year i was fishing in the same place with float rod. Could actually compare my results. Last year i caught only one big roach. Today there were three, weighing more than 200g.

Didn’t have much time for spinning today, but still managed to catch one perch on Megabass Dog-X walker (first perch on walker). Pike was still silent.

1 perch, 1 kg of roaches and rudds

A really dissapointing fishing today, caught only 1 small pike and 1 small perch throughout whole day. Should really try luck in some other locations.

Autumn labor fishing

by on Sep.10, 2011, under Spinning, Tumsupe river

A beautiful sunset river viewWent to the summer-house on friday, and decided to go angling on saturday, it was quite windy and cloudy day. It didn’t went right from the very beginning, wind blew my boat to the left and to the right.

Actually i wanted to try to catch pike on live bait today, but it turned out to be a problem to catch the bait itself. Fish changed its summer location, and i couldn’t find it. May be because of this i didn’t focus on spinning solely today and didn’t even get a pike! I think for the first time this season – only perches.

4 perches (biggest 300g) — all released

Rudd’s nest and a bigger pike

by on Aug.14, 2011, under Float rod, Kanieris lake, Spinning

Juran is holding his Kanieris personal best pikeAt last me and Juran visited Kanieris lake for the second time this season. Start of course was full of hopes and expectations, as always. But reality always make some corrections to your plans.

We’ve had quite an early start and already at 7 Am we where in the boat on the lake. I had a series of strikes on my Megabass Dog-X but no result – fish was missing the lure all the time. After that we have had a couple of hours of no success and experienced heavy raining. Then when we seemed apathic something unpredictable happened and Juran got a strike and it was an almost 2kg pike, which gave us the fight for it’s life!

Float rod:
We tried our floats in one place i remember from previous times, when i was fishing with my dad. First what i have put on the hook was earthworm, but it was eaten by the small perch all the time. We had corn with us and we tried – it was a major difference in the size of the catched fish. Only above 150g rudd was able to eat that corn. :)

This perch (260g) was caught on earthworm by Juran
A beautiful rudd
My lonely pike today was released (660g)
Juran is holding his smaller pike (600g)

660g pike (released) 3kg of rudd.
Juran: 1.8kg pike, 600g pike (released), 3kg of rudd.
