Well-fed fish

by on Aug.25, 2012, under Rings, Spinning, Tumsupe river

Fat pikes and a perchIt was amazing weather today. Cloudy, absolutely no wind and warm. I was sure it will be my day! And it was! Pikes were active! But still i had to have a lot of patience to catch pikes today. Spinners proved itself as ever.

The only pike caught on frog was about 10cm long 🙂 and was quickly released. By the way it is the first pike, caught on this lure. It looked funny! See picture. 🙂

5 pikes (3 released), 3 perches (2 released)

Pikeperch output

by on Aug.18, 2012, under Spinning, Daugava river

Beautiful fish - pikeperch (caught by Jura and released)Jura offered me to go to Daugava river with his motor boat this Saturday. I was free to go, so no excuses available! 🙂 It wasn’t our first attempt on Daugava, but the first it was so unsuccessful, so i didn’t even described it in my blog, was too lazy for that.

Today it was another story as everything worked as it should have. To my shame it worked well for Jura only! 🙂 Because my result today is a small perch, i quickly released. But for Jura it was 5 pikperches (zanders) and 2 perches.

This beauty was caught by Jura, not me

1 perch (released), Jura – 5 pikeperches (2.1kg, 1.7kg, 3 released), 2 perches (1 released)

Kanieris shower

by on Aug.05, 2010, under Spinning, Kanieris lake

These perches are delivered straight from Kanieris lakeTook a day off from the office to visit Kanieris lake today. I have chosen Thursday for some reason, just don’t like number 6. Woke up at 04:30 it was raining slightly, went to the lake with Juran. Rain was getting stronger every minute and it was +16°C, in these awful conditions i managed to catch 3 perches and 3 got away, one was about 300g. Fishing ended at 11 AM, because it was impossible to stay on the water. I had t-shirt, shorts and slippers on. The only way to get to the boat was swimming, because water was at least +23°C and i did use this option today!

In fact the same i went to a corporate party with my colleague, where we were bloody drunk in the late evening! The next day i was at work at 1 PM 🙂

3 perches (3 x 100g)

Perch domination

by on Jul.17, 2010, under Tumsupe river

Unstoppable when it comes to perch fishingHello, fellow fishermen. Today i changed tactics – used wise fishing. Went to the river at 4 PM. Sun wasn’t heating badly but the temperature was still high, above +30C. Looking back to the previous experience i have decided to go to the well know and respectful places to test my brand new collection on Blue Fox Vibrax spinners.

The result came very quickly – and Blue Fox worked perfectly well — a nice beautiful perch weighing over 200g was landed into the boat. It was a signal that perches are active and aggressive today! It turned out to be true, but the first perch turned out to be the largest of the day. Also a tiny pike was catched, but added no adrenaline for me – too small, weighing less than a biggest perch today.

1 pike (32cm); 9 perches (largest 25cm, 220g)

Heat at Tumsupe river

by on Jul.11, 2010, under Tumsupe river

The best result of the season so far insipe of the abnormal heat (4 pikes)Day1. On Saturday morning we went to the river with Jura at 8 AM, and were shocked – water was brown – no chance for catching anything, visibility in water was 5cm, but we tried and of course didn’t succeed.

Day 2. Many of you next day would probably skip fishing (it was +33°C and no wind), but not me! I woke up only at 11 AM and went to the river and it was already +30°C, burning sun and no clouds or wind whatsoever. Everyone (my dad) told me i won’t catch anything today, but i did catch and a lot (for Tumsupe river)! Approximately at 1 PM i found a nice place for popper and catched two undersize pikes after that no bites till i got to my favorite place at 3 PM and all remaining fish was caught there in a period of 30 minutes — shouldn’t have waisted time on other parts of the river.

First pike of the day (the smallest one), catched 12:00, +30°C, released to its natural habitat
Third pike of the day (the biggest one), catched 15:00, +33°C
Total for July 11, 2010

4 pikes (50 cm, 800g; 48cm, 650g); 3 perches (biggest 23cm, 200g). Total of 2kg
