Phone drowning and no success
by flanker on Oct.15, 2011, under Rings, Spinning, Tumsupe river
It was below zero this night and could have influenced fish negatively.
Today’s plan was to catch live bait, to setup my rings with live bait, and to try my luck with spinning while rings are working. Catching live bait was a major problem, managed to catch only 2 rudds and a bleak. Rudds went on rings and a bleak went to a Coca-cola bottle with a hook.
Pike was really silent today, it was almost mystic time, there was no movement in the river.
I was just enjoying my time on the river, surrounded by the woods. Moved to the shore, bended and my old-school SonyEricsson k750i just flaw into the river. To my luck it wasn’t really deep, and i managed to grab it from the bottom of the river.
washout
Fishing on rings
by flanker on Oct.08, 2011, under Rings, Spinning, Tumsupe river
Always wanted to try to angle with rings, heard about them a lot, watched in fishing videos like others do it. Now it was my time to try it. I must mention that all pikes i caught before, were caught in spinning solely, and none of them on the live bait. Rings use a live bait. Rings in russian are called “kruzhki”.
Since it was my first experience, i probably did something wrong, but anyway i had a feeling the result will come today anyway. And the result came. My lonely two rings were swimming for 3 hours and then one turned suddenly and fish was already going away with my live bait and was successfully stopped and landed into the boat. I used roach as a live bait.
Also had one smaller pike on spinning – Megabass Dog-X did the job just perfectly!
2 pikes (460g and 840g, smaller one released)
Abu Garcia reel test and a record perch
by flanker on Oct.01, 2011, under Float rod, Spinning, Tumsupe river
Received my Abu Garcia Orras spinning reel, ordered on eBay yesterday, and was full of expectations to test it real fishing conditions. At noon i was at the river, wasted some time to catch a live bait, and catched a small perch on macaroni, which was real fun, because perch just doesn’t eat macaroni.
At some time it became not interesting to float. Took my spinning rod with my new spinning reel and moved directly to the pond to watch pikes, hunting fish in the grass i didn’t have a chance to cast in. Next time will try fishing on rings, because the only other fisherman on the pond today (except me) managed to catch a 2.5kg pike on ring.
1 pike (released), 1 perch (400g, 28cm)
Roach on macaroni
by flanker on Sep.25, 2011, under Float rod, Spinning, Tumsupe river
Always wanted to try angling on macaroni, heard a lot about it, but never tried. Now the time had finally come.
I was surprised, because fish really liked it more than an earthworm or a corn. Funny thing is that exactly on September 25 last year i was fishing in the same place with float rod. Could actually compare my results. Last year i caught only one big roach. Today there were three, weighing more than 200g.
Didn’t have much time for spinning today, but still managed to catch one perch on Megabass Dog-X walker (first perch on walker). Pike was still silent.
1 perch, 1 kg of roaches and rudds
